2017 E.C. REGULAR UNDERGRADUATE ADMISSION CRITERIA

Doctor of Medicine

Fulfilling the criteria set by Federal Ministry of Education, which is obtaining the set higher education entry cutoff point cutoff point > 200(400)[ > 450(700)]  for 2011 E.C., > 450 for 2012 E.C. and > 363(1st round), > 423(2nd round)  for 2013&14, E.C., >350 (700) , >300 (600) >250 (500) for 2016 E.C.

Doctor of Dental Medicine

Fulfilling the criteria set by Federal Ministry of Education, which is obtaining the set higher education entry cutoff point > 200(400)[ > 450(700)]  for 2011 E.C., > 450 for 2012 E.C. and > > 363(1st round), > 423(2nd round)  for 2013& 14 E.C. ., >350 (700) , >300 (600) >250 (500) for 2016 E.C.

Medical Laboratory Science

Fulfill criteria set by Ministry of Education, which is obtain the necessary higher education entry cutoff point   > 140(400) for 2011 E.C.,  > 330 (male) and > 310 (female) for  2012 E.C. and > 300 for  2013 E.C & 14, >350 (700) , >300 (600), >250 (500) and > 50% for remedial result for 2016 E.C.

For the above fields application package should include:

  • Natural science background
  • Copies of 12th, 10th, 8th grade certificates and high school transcript.
  • BSc holder in health and health related fields.
  • For degree holders- Official Transcript of your undergraduate training mailed directly by your previous institution to: SMC P.O. Box 25892/1000 Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
  • Transfers from other medical institutions who completed up to PC 1 and in good academic standing and submission of Official Transcript to the College upon application.
  • Foreign students or those who studied abroad should produce a letter of authenticity from HERQA testifying that you can pursue “tertiary level education” in Ethiopia.
  • Shall register in person
  • For Public Health: Diploma holder in relevant field having Level IV COC certificate and 1 year service after obtaining Level IV COC in your respective fields
  • An applicant must be physically and mentally able

Master of Public Health in Public Health

Master of Public Health in Public Health Nutrition

Master of Public Health in Reproductive Health

Master of Public Health in General Public Health: Must have an MD in medicine or at least a Bachelor degree in Public Health/Public Health Officer and related fields (Nursing, Veterinary medicine, Environmental health, Medical Laboratory Technology, Biology and other health related fields)

Master of Public Health in Public Health Nutrition: Should hold at least a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in Food Science, Nutrition, Chemistry, Biology, Health Sciences and related agricultural fields from an institution of acceptable standing.

Master of Public Health in Reproductive Health:: Must have an MD in medicine or at least a Bachelor degree in Public Health/Public Health Officer and related fields (Nursing, Veterinary medicine, Environmental health, Medical Laboratory Technology, Biology and other health related fields)

        Application package should include: 

  • Two copies of curriculum vitae/resume
  • Two copies of degree
  • Official Transcript of your undergraduate training mailed directly by your previous institution to : SMC P.O. Box 25892/1000 Addis Ababa, Ethiopia upon application.
  • Two recommendation letters(Referee’s Report format as given by SMC) in sealed envelopes mailed to SMC
  • Three recent passport photographs
  • Completed application form in two copies
  • Deposition of Birr 500 application fee

The duration for both MPH and MSc degree shall be two years
