Core competencies of undergraduate public health officer program

Undergraduate public health officer is expected to:

• Assess community health needs and priority problems
• Plan, organize, direct, coordinate, and evaluate
• Collect, document, process, analyze, disseminate and
• Conduct or coordinate continuing education, and training Provide comprehensive outpatient and inpatient service.
• Perform minor surgical and obstetric procedures
• Perform medical diagnostic& therapeutic procedures
• Early diagnosis, basic treatment and referral of difficult cases
• Mobilize individuals, families and communities
• Promote and be engaged in inter-sectorial activities.
• Conduct and participate on operational health research.
• Implement PHC activities
• Organize a team to prevent and control disaster and emergency situations
